The Data Governance Indicators dataset is linked to a Maturity Model (MM) customized around four building blocks (dimensions) of data governance (policy, laws & regulations, institutions, and infrastructure) with a focus on data and transactions managed by the public sector. The MM is intended as a tool to measure the state of introducing, assessing, and refining the data governance foundations and practices in public sector over time. The MM contains both qualitative and quantitative metrics to monitor the growth of the data governance practices within the public sector. Indicators selected (198 countries) for the calculation of these building blocks include: (1) Data Governance Institutions, Policy/Regulations & Whole of Government, (2) Government Cloud, Enterprise Architecture and Interoperability Platform, (3) National Cybersecurity/Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) or Cyber/Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) Platforms, (4) Open Government/Open Data & Citizen Participation/Feedback, (5) Data Protection/Privacy and Right to Information Laws, and (6) the World Development Report (WDR) 2021 Survey Results. This dataset was developed to support the preparation of the “WDR 2021: Data for Better Lives” report. It is also a subset of the Digital Government/GovTech Systems and Services (DGSS) dataset. (More information on the DGSS: https://datacatalog.worldbank.org/dataset/digital-governmentgovtech-syst...) All are updated to include November 2020 revision of the dataset.
